What is Dental Prosthodontics?

The goal of prosthodontics is to improve the patient’s oral health, comfort, and quality of life. The importance of prosthodontics cannot be overstated. Good oral health is essential to overall health and wellbeing. Missing teeth can cause a number of physical and psychological issues, including pain, difficulty eating and speaking, embarrassment, and a decline in self-confidence.

Prosthodontic treatments, such as dentures, bridges, and implants, can alleviate these issues and restore your oral health. In addition to improving oral health, prosthodontic treatments can also improve your appearance. Dentures, removable partial dentures, bridges, and implants can replace missing teeth, restore your smile, and absolutely improve your self-confidence.

Implants, in particular, are a great solution for missing teeth since they look and feel like natural teeth. Implants can also be used to stabilize removable prosthetics. Lower full dentures almost always need some sort of stabilizer in order to prevent them from moving in all directions. If teeth are no longer available, dental implants can fill that role. Upper full dentures are far more forgiving. They can often be retained by suction only or a combination of suction and a small amount of powder adhesive.
